So in the last post, we talked about coming up with an idea for an online course. If you missed it you should go back and read it. It’s a good one. In this post, we are going to go over self-doubt, something we all deal with.
How to over come self-doubt when creating an online course
Self-doubt comes around when we start to think about doing something different, something we might not have tried before. It tends to bring up fear of the unknown. Questions like, “Who is going to want to learn something from me?” or “Why would anybody buy something from me?” Self-doubt has many looks and sparks many questions.
Let me tell you, forget about it!
You need to stop what you are doing right now. Remind yourself that you know a thing or two and you can teach that out to other. There are people out there waiting for you to share your knowledge with them. Look in the mirror or use your selfie camera and tell yourself “I can and I will do this!”
Forget about self-doubt and focus on what you are passionate about, what you can teach others, and how you are going to deliver it (using Stupid Easy of course, but I mean video, images, etc.). There is a whole world out there waiting for you to teach what you know. Yes, there maybe others already out there doing what you are thinking about doing. Yes, they may already have a piece of the market, but what they don’t have is YOU!
You are what makes your course stand out.
Think about how many nail salons, massage places, real estate agents, gyms, and grocery stores there are. You can do this and will do this (create an online course) once you do your research.
The research will set you up for success and help your course stand out!
Part of the research is discovering what others have to say about the topic you’ve selected. What’s missing from the market? How can you take what you know and package it in a way that provides that solution? How can you make it better?
I also suggest surrounding yourself with the feel-good material such as quotes, images, podcasts, and talks. If you are looking for a starting place you can check out our Pinterest page as we have a board to help inspire you. The more you can immerse yourself into your niche and surround yourself with people who get it and will be there to cheer you on, the better.
By surrounding yourself with people who get it (entrepreneurs, creatives, course creators, etc.) you are increasing your chances of success by 100x because they understand what you are trying to do. That will energize you and keeps you going.
Remember, creating an online course on Stupid Easy is just taking one topic you are passionate about and breaking it down into bite-sized lessons that are under 5-minutes. You want your students (your target market, men, women, children, colleagues, and my jungle friends) to easily digest the content you are giving them.
It’s easy to create a course that gives away everything but the kitchen sink, right? It’s a challenge to cut to the chase and just deliver the content. A challenge you are willing to take on and one your students will appreciate you for!
